Dreams often take a long time to come to fulfillment. God’s Dreams, like Joseph’s, are worth the wait, however long they take.
Notice how Jesus fulfills each of the characteristics of an effective counselor.
What hardships are you experiencing in this season of work? Have you lost a job? Been a victim of injustice? Or are you simply not as far along in your career as you once dreamed? Trust in the hope that “in all things God works for the good of those who love him” (Romans 8:28).
Chrismas is here! You can find a vivid picture of how two vital leadership principles can be intertwined by looking at one of the time-honored carols of the season.
Most people are familiar with this classic and oft sung Christmas carol. Few people realize that Charles Wesley, who penned the words, had an important leadership principle in mind when he penned this Christmas classic.
Whether you’re an entrepreneur, a writer, a teacher, a stay-at-home-mom, or a designer, you have an unfair advantage. You have the God who is “able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine” living inside of you (see Ephesians 3:20). Let that truth inspire you.
These words and these instructions help us check ourselves for spiritual development. The longer and the closer we walk with God, the more these words ring true. We can use these terms to gauge the spiritual maturity of those who are leaders or seek positions of leadership.
The pressures of leading can create complicated, stressful situations that test you, but therein lies the opportunity to grow. Surrendering to the Holy Spirit on a daily basis will not only grow you as a Christian, it will develop you as a leader.
Understanding this may relieve some of the pressure you've been feeling.
God’s simple instructions of being thankful produce extravagant results.
Some give gifts because they want something in return. Others give because they have already received more than they could have asked for, more than they could have expected or hoped for.
What did Jesus say when he attracted a large crowd? He said things that drove most of the people away. Why? Jesus didn’t want fans; he wanted followers. And being a real follower is tough. It takes discipline. Host Chris Bolinger presents a famous example of the value of discipline and explains why discipline in your life is even more important.
God’s leading us is not always a call to action. God’s leading us is often a call for us to wait so that he can do a few things in our lives. What might God be doing during our time of trusting and waiting?
Do you ever feel weak or inadequate in your position of authority?
Jesus led the way. He knew where he was going. He knew what was in store. He knew what he wanted these followers to experience.
Humility is an essential component of effective leadership. Humility is characterized by the ability to acknowledge one’s limitations and mistakes, and to prioritize the needs and perspectives of others over one’s own.
Are you a contented person? If you were to rate yourself on a happiness scale, how much percentage of the time would show you are content?
When we face a surprising loss, a slight against us, an unpleasantry in life, how can we use this knowledge? Where in your life are you holding on to anger, or worse yet overreacting to it? This may surprise you, but maybe it’s time for you to throw a brick.
Deeply-rooted believers are not terrified by heat and long-range weather forecasts. Their nourishment and refreshment come from a deep and abundant source. They are fruitful while others complain.
