Serving God right where you areadobe

"Construction is like eating dirt all day long," Larry, a building contractor, said. "It can be a very negative business depending on your perspective. I wasn't finding meaning in what I was doing. I started searching."

"After a Challenge Weekend, I have seen a slow and steady transformation of my life."

"One of the biggest impacts has been on how I approach my work and relate to my employees. We had an employee who was always late for work, would sneak off the job at lunch, and was not performing."

"In the past, I would have fired him on the spot, but this time I prayed about how I should deal with the individual. I invited him into my office to discuss his performance. I saw him wilt before my eyes.

"I learned he never had a father, was not able to continue his education, and was caring for his mother, who was in poor health. I shared my faith with him and told him about CIC. I told him I would work with him if he would try to change.

"He is no longer coming to work late or sneaking away; he brings his lunch and has a smile on his face. His performance has improved and he's gone back to school at night. I continue to meet with him and talk about his future."

Inspiration at Work

Larry has also hired two young men who had been in an alcohol and drug rehabilitation program.

"One of them came to a CIC Weekend and is now on fire for the Lord. This man is helping the other young man. God has given me a new heart for young people, particularly those who are struggling.

"I used to think that I would have to change careers to have meaning and impact in my life, but now I see that I am right where God wants me to be."
