Living in complete reliance on God
ChatGPTHave you ever had to rely on God because you had no other options, and he was all you had left?
It's a scary place to be. The times I've been there have been among my weakest moments, whether it was a desperate decision I needed to make, fear about the future, or a sudden tragedy.
I felt vulnerable. My confidence evaporated. No past experiences spoke wisdom into my present circumstances.
After being there more often in recent years than I've wanted to, I've been thinking.
What if God wants me to visit this place from time to time for my own good, and for his glory?
Or in a broader sense, what if he wants all his children to continually live in complete reliance on him?
What if he wants to glorify himself by answering our pleas for deliverance, and this is a special kind of glory he gets through our faith?
What if this rhythm of deep need and providential deliverance in our lives displays his love to the world?
God indeed wants us to feel human weakness, for our good and for his glory (2 Cor. 12:9). He wants all of us to continually live in reliance on him (Prov. 3:5-6). And he glorifies himself by answering our pleas (Ps. 79:9).
Jesus demonstrated how to live like this. He became a weak human being, continually relied on the Father for all his needs, and lived in complete obedience (see Phil. 2:6-8).
I can only imagine what satisfying joy it is to live this kind of life!
Believing it's possible,
