Leading ourselves (and others) to greater confidence in God
ChatGPTBefore we leave A.W. Pink, I wanted to wrap up our study of this classic theologian on an inspiring note.
In his 1930 book The Attributes of God, he writes that to "view our situation with dark foreboding, to anticipate the morrow with sad anxiety, is to reflect poorly on the faithfulness of God. He who has cared for his child through all the years will not forsake him in old age. He who has heard your prayers in the past will not refuse to supply your need in the present emergency."
The older I get, the more troubles stare back at me in my rearview mirror; and the more I see he's been with me all along, shaping me through pain and hardship. Many difficult experiences of the past increase my joy today when I remember God's deliverance.
To me, this describes heaven: eternal joy after a short time of trouble.
Pink leaves us with these encouraging words: "When we trustfully resign ourselves, and all our affairs into God's hands, fully persuaded of his love and faithfulness, the sooner shall we be satisfied with his providences and realize that 'he doeth all things well'" (Mark 7:37).
May we confidently march forward in step with Jesus, fully persuaded. As leaders, let's lift people up when they stumble, and teach them to follow him on their own, even if they're in a season of hardship.
When we encourage people, we are encouraged, too.
Step by step,
