In the lake called life, it's the rudder that matters.
The rudder is small, but it steers the entire ship.
To get to a desired spot across the lake, one must set a course and then follow it up with a multitude of adjustments along the way, given the unknown variables that inevitably seek to push one off course.
These adjustments with the rudder take into account the end result. Every experience is a learning opportunity to leverage for the next step. That is the rudder.
By the way, these are not adjustments like the undisciplined one who has no end goal in mind but would rather simply live and react to whatever comes his way.
That method may seem like freedom. But it will only lead to regret. And even though it seems like freedom at the time, it is not.
You are navigating the lake called life. In it are a number of variables that seek to keep you off course to your destination.
What is your destination? It's the type of person you wish to be.
What is your method? The adjustments with the rudder.
So, decide the type of person you wish to be, and then prove it to yourself by your behaviors. (Read more about this in James Clear's book, Atomic Habits).
The true course for fulfillment and a reduction in regrets is to be about the business of becoming the fullest expression of your unique, God-given design.
