How to not center your life around your paycheck

"Don't make your living by extortion or put your hope in stealing. And if your wealth increases, don't make it the center of your life" (Psalm 62:10, NLT).

You can solve many problems before they begin by receiving a bit of ancient wisdom: Don't take what isn't yours. Don't center your life around money.

John Wesley taught those he influenced to earn all they could, to give all they could, to save all they could. One thing to add is to make wise spending decisions. Get the best bang for the buck.

Money has a way of stimulating emotions. It can make us feel powerful or weak. It can lead to envy or pride.

Master your emotions. Master your money. Master your life.

Our Father, empower me to earn all that I can through honest and beneficial endeavors. Empower me to give as freely as I have received.

Empower me to save wisely to take care of my family and others. Empower me to think about money in a way that leads to using it in a manner that honors you and serves others.

Deliver me from envy and covetousness that makes me want to take what does not belong to me.

Amen
