How God's pursuit impacts our work

"Only goodness and faithful love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord as long as I live" (Psalm 23:6, CSB)
"Certainly goodness and faithfulness will follow me all the days of my life, And my dwelling will be in the house of the Lord forever" (Psalm 23:6, NAS).
"Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever" (Psalm 23:6, NIV).
"Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever" (New Living Translation).
"Your beauty and love chase after me every day of my life. I'm back home in the house of God for the rest of my life" (Psalm 23:6, The Message).
This most-beloved psalm tells us that God goes before us, walks alongside us and follows us everywhere all the time. We live surrounded not by a hedge of protection, but by God.
Notice the synonyms used in different translations of verse six to amplify the word "follow."
"Pursue" and "chase" should serve to remind us that we cannot outrun God. They should also remind us that no matter where we run, he runs too. They should bring to mind what God said to Abraham in Genesis 15:1: "Walk before me, and live blamelessly," (NAS).
Our Father in heaven pursues you to amplify your life. He wants to maximize your good work. He wants to optimize your exploits.
What would that look like for you today? Give that some thought. Seek God's direction. Then confidently exit your door and step into God's goodness today.
Our Father, please go before me to prepare the way. Walk beside me all along the way. Follow me as I walk in your way. Pursue me when I divert from your way. Chase me when I run away. Remind me as often as necessary that not only is yours the only truly good way, you are the way. Amen.
