Devotional: Where can you find wisdom?
At your workplace, in the midst of the noise competing for your heart’s attention, God calls out to you offering his wisdom.
This wisdom is unique. This world where you live and work is God’s handiwork. As the Creator, God is the only One who knows exactly how everything is designed.
Instead of providing you with an owner’s manual, the Creator desires to enter into a personal relationship with you and share firsthand His knowledge of how everything functions. Relying on this wisdom and understanding from God will enable you to do your job with excellence.
God’s wisdom is true, just and right. It will teach you prudence and discretion. This wisdom will provide you with counsel, sound judgment and insight. God’s wisdom will enable you to make just decisions and to lead well. God understands the intricacies of the hearts of those you work with and live with. With his wisdom you can love and relate to them in a way that aligns with his kingdom purposes.
At the place where you engage in commerce and politics, make decisions, begin new journeys, even in the midst of the competing noise wanting your heart and attention, it is here that Wisdom calls out to you fervently and with conviction. This wisdom offers the same counsel as was offered to kings and princes.
The wisdom God offers you comes with a promise of a rich blessing. The fruit that God offers you, should you choose to follow his wisdom, is more precious than rubies, is better than fine gold and its yield surpasses choice silver. The day is coming when Christ will redeem the work that you are doing today. If you go about your work with God’s wisdom, no matter how menial or fascinating that work is in some mysterious way it will be purified as gold and silver.
