Book review: Servant Leader Strong, by Tom Harper
One word to describe this book is "user-friendly"—easy to learn from, use and understand.
I confess in my own daily walk, this book helps remind me that God's Word always delivers on its promises. Many times recently, I've found myself mesmerized by the transformation in my servant leadership style as I've simply said less than I normally would have (thanks to the power of the Holy Spirit and this book).
True changes in character among leadership, managers and coworkers (both good and bad) were revealed during the reading of this book. My position demands unity among everyone on the team.
The chapter that stands out for me is "Discover True Humility." As servant leaders, we must "ego check" ourselves daily. A great reminder is C.S. Lewis' statement that "no man knows how bad he is till he has tried very hard to be good."
After reading this book, God's voice to me is no longer just a constant whisper—this book invokes action in my leadership. The book empowers you to hear God's voice as a mighty roar, perfect, gentle, kind, and with clarity of vision.
If you seek to improve as a servant leader, I recommend reading this book with colored pens and a journal. Recognize the greatness of its context, rich in meaning. This is a must-read that belongs in your library and often referenced for good measure.
