Book review: Let Hope In

Kim Niles

If you’re looking for a book that is encouraging, thought-provoking, applicable and tackles tough spiritual questions, Let Hope In: 4 Choices That Will Change Your Life Foreverby Pete Wilson delivers.

The author is gifted in explaining biblical truths in a warm, memorable and conversational way. With each page, you feel as though you’re reading thoughts from a trusted friend who has your best interests at heart. You’ll be inspired to walk with God in a richer, more authentic way.

Wilson presents his readers with four choices that can change your life forever. My favorite choice was ‘Choosing to Transform Instead of Transfer.’ This section will be very beneficial to anyone who isn’t quite sure how to navigate through hurts, failure, generational issues or deep disappointment.

His explanation of trusting God versus pleasing God will truly bring freedom, spiritual relief and greatly benefit those who are caught up in legalism, an unhealthy fear of God or a performance-based faith. Those who read Let Hope Inwill see God’s heart and love—without compromising His holiness. Also, Wilson’s description of two types of hope was thought-provoking and helpful for someone experiencing a trial or deep grief.

The principles were both plentiful and dynamic. I began writing down ideas I’d like to apply to my own life and I encourage other readers to do the same; it is all so wonderfully applicable for example:

•how to overcome and find hope in past hurts, guilt, regrets, and mistakes

•wisely offering grace and mercy to those the world has discarded

•trusting God when you’re disappointed by life — or when God doesn’t quite show up how we desire for Him to

•encouragement to have outrageous courage — both everyday courage and insane courage for the hard parts of life

Whether you’re a pastor, CEO, spouse, parent or in ministry, I believe reading Let Hope In will give great insight into living your best spiritual life.
