Tell us a little about yourself personally.

I married my husband, Ryan, almost six years ago and we've been together for nearly eleven altogether. He does fundraising for a large non-profit and together we make our home in the great state of Colorado, pursuing life, marriage, and ministry. We have a handsome son named Roman, a precious little one in heaven, and a lab named Pepper.

I love a good outdoor adventure, Andy's Frozen Custard, nibbling on my son's yummy cheeks, and binge-watching Downton Abbey. I'm also a big fan of road trips, great food, and new experiences!

Describe what kind of work you do, and what you've done in the past.

I lead a ministry called Truth x Grace Ministries. We are dedicated to strengthening believers through God's Word and pointing to His abundant grace. Our heart is to provide resources and opportunities for people to authentically connect with God. This ministry inspires women through an online ministry for moms' and women's events in Colorado, develops leaders through courses and resources, advocates for biblical literacy, and champions healthy church culture.

I speak around the country, have authored 3 books, and am currently writing 2 devotional books simultaneously that are releasing this year.

Prior to leading Truth x Grace, I served on staff at James River Church, Convoy of Hope, Red Rocks Church, and the Assemblies of God National Women's Ministries.

What was your first-ever leadership role?

My first leadership role was as a youth leader at my church right out of high school. I soon went on staff there and served on the leadership team for the women's ministry at the church.

How has God grown you as a leader over the years?

How do I even answer this question well and concisely? I've learned so much in nearly twenty years of leadership. Honestly, it's been more pruning than harvest, it seems. I didn't grow up in a Christian home and came to the Lord with a lot of scars and baggage at 16 years old. I've had a lot to learn, but what has been so remarkable to see is that God has never given up on me or my development, even when I resisted. I'm grateful for the pruning in my life, and I hope all leaders would be open to that.

What's the hardest leadership lesson you've ever learned?

That leadership isn't a title, but influence. As a young woman in ministry, I thought people would only respect me because of my role. In my early years I perhaps even made an idol of the title. But as I've grown, I've now come to the realization that leadership is influence. People don't want to follow you because you have a title, but because they trust you. I take that trust very seriously.

What advice would you give to Christian leaders?

Be open to always learning and growing. If you come to a place where you think you shouldn't be corrected or don't need accountability, that's a dangerous place to live.

Most meaningful Scripture:

So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God's will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.
—Hebrews 10:35-36 (NLT)

This passage has given me so much strength to keep going when it's been hard and I've wanted to give up.
