Are you getting a wake-up call?

Caroline Mendez

Are you getting a wake-up call?

Remember the wake-up calls you used to get in a hotel room? We’re often getting spiritual “wake-up calls” and sleeping right through them.

Or we resist the wake-up call and hit the snooze (ignoring it), hoping to gain more time. My proposition is this: last week, yesterday, today, an hour ago, we may have been getting signals from the Holy Spirit about something that needs to change within us. And the signals may be ignored because we don’t want to hear it, acknowledge it, own it or change it.

It’s easier to stay on the same path, do the same thing. We even think perhaps resisting it is easier than actually seeing and hearing what is there. But resisting or ignoring is futile. The messages will just keep coming and getting louder (and often more painful) until we listen.

So how do you know when you’re getting a wake-up call?

Here are some tips to identify them:

  • you keep doing the same thing and getting the same unsatisfactory results
  • you are often frustrated
  • people (clients/spouse/team members/vendors) keep asking for something else (not what you provide)
  • revenue or income is trending down
  • persistent illnesses
  • continual wishing that things were different

Here's the challenge: Commit to listen to the Holy Spirit and pay attention to your current wake-up call. Then commit to take action and address it.
