A strategy to try before your next meeting
Meetings often foster disagreement. That's not a bad thing, of course. But how do we manage disputes before they devolve into turf wars and personality rubs?
One thing I've done with some success is to get everyone to agree to speak truth and deal with facts. I've also tried to help people realize they can share without the fear of humiliation.
But I think there's a better strategy, and it's one I'm still working on. It's simply humility. If we can build it into the culture of a company, it'll make its way into meetings.
So, the strategy here isn't just to be humble in meetings, but to build humility into your leadership and culture. Coach it into those on your team.
Easier said than done, I know.
I'm partially writing this to hold myself accountable to ask the Lord for personal humility. It's so elusive, isn't it? Just when I think I'm humble … I stumble.
In Christ,
