Artificial Intelligence is all the rage. Everybody seems to be using it. Business leaders are starting to implement it more and more. So, what's the right thing to do with this tool? Here are 4 things to consider when using AI for business.

4 things to consider when using AI for business

1. AI has ethical implications.

You will need to consider the ethical implications when using AI. What are those? AI scrapes content and rewrites it in a new way. Or, if you're using it to create images, AI scrapes images made by creators, combining what's found, and creating something similar.

You must consider these implications when deciding whether or not to use this technology.

2. AI gets things wrong.

I've used AI to help me with blogging. It's never used it to create content but find it helpful in sparking ideas. When I use it, I create a prompt to make it understand who I am, how I write, and what I'm looking for. The ideas it gives are often helpful. But, sometimes, the information that comes back isn't correct.

If you're using AI for content, you'll need to remember that AI isn't error-free. Take time to double-check then information the tool sends you.

3. AI-generated content cannot be copyrighted.

A U.S. Court in Washington, DC, ruled that works created entirely by AI cannot be copyrighted. The point was that there has to be human input into the work.

If you're creating content for personal or business use, be sure there's human input in the content you create. Otherwise, your work will not be protected.

4. The information you put into AI generators can be seen by the public.

AI services collect a lot of data about users. More importantly, they collect all of the information you type into the tool. ChatGPT and other AI systems keep track of every question you ask, every business detail you give, and every response you give.

Be cautious if you're inputting sensitive data about your business, it can become public data.

Think Before You Use

I'm not telling you to stay away from AI. In fact, I've embraced it for multiple tasks and as an idea-generator in my business and life. It's a great tool. But be aware that it's not without issues. Be aware that your data may not be private, you may be using someone else's work, or you may get incorrect information.

If you're up for the challenge, try it out. You may find it a valuable tool or you might choose to eschew this technology.
